The Boulevardier

Erskine Gwynne was the publisher of “Boulevardier”, a 1920’s Parisian magazine, and is credited with the creation of this simple yet elegant cocktail.  A simple variation on the Negroni, it beautifully balances the Bourbon with sweet and bitter.

The recipe is suited to Bourbon but can easily be made with Rye which gives it a spicier quality. As with most cocktails, the better the quality ingredients you put in, the better the cocktail

INGREDIENTS

  • Bourbon – 1 and 1/2 parts
  • Sweet Vermouth – 1 part
  • Campari – 1 part
  • Orange twist – To garnish

METHOD

Add your Bourbon (or Rye) into a mixing glass, with ice, along with the Sweet Vermouth and Campari. Stir until well chilled and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.Garnish with an orange twist and enjoy!

We quite like it made with this Rye whiskey
